Abstract: In 2014, the field of Chinese semiotics advanced steadily: theoretical studies have been deepened, there has been rapid progress in the application of semiotics and interdisciplinary studies have become mainstream. Furthermore, international exchanges in semiotics have been strengthened. This paper outlines the development of Chinese semiotics in 2014. Overall, the field’s research horizons have been broadened, and studies in previous research domains have been deepened. However, if the field of Chinese Semiotics is to advance further, two obstacles must be overcome: the imbalance between theoretical and practical studies and the lack of theoretical innovation.
