Abstract: With the rapid development of science and technology, post-capitalism, which developed from productivity to consumer society, arrives at the important problem of how to address material deprivation by stimulating people towards consumption. In response to this question, Baudrillard constructed the sign of political economics by means of singal theories. However, the signal theories haven’t resolved our capitalist society’s increasingly serious issues, as our society continues to fall into greater alienation and ecological danger. This critique will explore Baudrillard’s theories in more detail, and outline their significance as well as their falterings.
