Abstract: Since the late 1990s, there is an astonishing boom of fantastic literature in terms its creation and literary communication. After giving a description of this phenomenon, this paper analyzes narratology as an approach to this genre, and makes a critical survey of this field. Based on the previous theoretical construct, this paper attempts to make some suggestions to the future studies on Chinese modern fantastic literature.
